Photography

I started enjoying photography during my last year of High School as the Editor of the yearbook. I've been trying to improve my skills as the years have gone on and I'm now a full blown shutterbug.

My High School graduation present was a Canon Rebel G. It was my first SLR (Single-lens Reflex) camera and I've been hooked ever since. I used that camera for many years as I learned more about photography, composition, lighting, etc. It's a rather intricate field with practice being the key component.

In the summer of 2004, I came to the realization that the hobby was becoming a rather cost heavy exercise. I was also having trouble learning the finer skills of photography since there was a large delay from developing the pictures. Too often I missed the shots I wanted due to bad lighting or bad camera settings. I decided to do away with film and switch to a digital SLR.

The freedom of not having to conserve film and instant feedback on my pictures created a dramatic spike in the quality of my photographs. Other aspects that I find fascinating include the use of analog filters, my 75-300 zoom lens, and long exposure night shots.
